Add-Me Scanner is a work in progress — a beta. It does the simple things well: photograph a page, flatten it, then merge, split, clean and export PDFs straight from your browser.
Scanning, page cleaning, PDF merging and splitting all run on your device. Your photos are never uploaded, and the finished file goes to your own download folder.
When you close the app, everything held in memory is wiped and that work is lost. Nothing is kept anywhere.
The good thing about that: nobody else can ever see your data.
With an account you can save documents inside the app and open them again on another device — scan on the phone, then file them from the computer.
Those documents are stored in the cloud, and anything stored in the cloud can in principle be hacked. That is the trade-off for having your files everywhere.
Beyond keeping the service running, nothing happens with your data: no analysis, no resale, no third parties.
What it costs
- Free: the whole on-device app — scanning, PDF merging, splitting and exporting — with no account at all.
- Free while signed in: up to 20 saved documents. If you need more, a paid plan will be required once it is set up.
- OCR (searchable PDFs) moves into the signed-in area, and later becomes part of the paid plan.
None of these limits are switched on yet — they are written down here so you can see where this is heading before anything changes.
Why free?
It is easy to build thanks to AI, and the running costs are low. On-device scanning needs neither AI nor storage, so it can genuinely be provided for free. Once storage is needed, it is a different game — and at some point I will have to charge for it.
